Roswell High and Esther Jackson, Mimosa, Roswell North and Vickery Mill elementary schools made the 2026 America's Healthiest Schools list for school meals.

Five Roswell public schools are on the 2026 America’s Healthiest Schools list. The national award goes to schools for their work on student, staff and family well-being.

The five Roswell schools are:

All five are run by Fulton County Schools. They are among 44 schools in the district on the list, according to a district announcement on Monday. The Alliance for a Healthier Generation, a nonprofit, published the list in August.

What the schools were recognized for

The alliance recognized 1,376 schools in 35 states and Washington, D.C. Schools can earn the award in several categories. Every Fulton County school on the list, including all five in Roswell, was recognized for nutrition and food access. The alliance’s 2026 list shows the category for each school.

The district said that category covers school teams that:

  • work to get more students eating school meals
  • work with teachers on nutrition education
  • partner with community groups to help families get enough healthy food

“This award represents our team’s unwavering commitment to student wellness,” said Alyssia Wright, the district’s executive director of school nutrition. “We believe healthy meals play a critical role in academic achievement.”

What is on the menu

The district said its nutrition team prepares many items in its own kitchens, including fresh vegetables, salads, fruit and scratch-made recipes. Some items are heat-and-serve. The district said it buys fruits, vegetables and meats from local and regional sources.

Students help choose new dishes. In the district’s yearly Student Choice Food Challenge, more than 160 students taste and vote on recipes, and the district said it has added breakfast and lunch options as a result. Student favorites named by the district include Teriyaki Chicken Woodles, nachos and roasted chicken wings.

The district offers a vegetarian option at breakfast and lunch every day.

How Roswell compares

By our count of the alliance’s list, Fulton County Schools had 44 of the 63 Georgia schools recognized this year. No other Georgia district had more than 11.

Roswell’s five equal Sandy Springs, about eight miles south, for the most in north Fulton. Alpharetta, about five miles north, has one: Creek View Elementary. No school with a Milton or Johns Creek address is on the list. Most of the district’s honorees are in south Fulton.
